It has been quiet around Odin for some time, this is because the server is still inaccessible by users with ssh. I thought the VPS provider was going to fix the server one week after when I emailed him, but I haven't heard anything or haven't received any reply from him. The last reply was that he was going to fix it one week after. I am not sure how long it takes for him to reply or fix the server, so everyone just has to wait and hope for the best. Due to all this, I cannot add new users to the server. I apologize for the inconvenience.

The maintenance is taking a bit longer than expected, I'll post another update once the server is accessible again. I still get emails about users not being able to access the server. These users will be suspended if they keep spamming me about the same problem without reading the updates. Also the users who do read this, please forward this message to the other users. I killed some of the processes which were taking the most system resources during the maintenance. If you're one of the users who got their process killed, email me with additional information about the process you run and I'll restart them.

Due to security reasons, the server Odin is now made temporarily unaccessible. I will post once the server will be accessible again. Do not try to login multiple times a day, just to see if the server is back to the normal state. Approximate time to expect the server to be back to normal, is around one week time.

Some of you probably already noticed the vhosts. For the people who are interested, the range with vhosts is .30 - .33 , there are currently no others. Don't overuse the vhosts or IP's since that will get us k-lined from the IRC networks or worse, getting us g-lined. I wish you all an early merry x-mas!

I'm practically forced to write a news post about users using the main IP again. Because some users are apparently not smart enough to fix it themselves. When I say "do not use for IRC", I mean everything IRC related. A few examples:
Example 1:
User "stupid" wants to compile a bnc. He is lazy and doesn't compile the bnc with a default vhost for the first user. This will make the bnc use the first IP to connect to IRC. Result? Suspension.
Example 2:
User "stupid" has finally compiled his bnc! This time he is using the public IP range, not the main IP. yay! He tries to connect to his bnc. *opens mIRC* /server **.***.***.226 <-- Isn't this the main IP? Even if you aren't using *.226 as vhost for a particular IRC client, it still makes use of the IP!! If you are connecting to your IRC client use the IP you are about to use as vhost, not the main IP and your port! Result? You can guess what the result is...
Don't be "stupid", Ok?

Most of you must have noticed a reboot of the server. This will hopefully fix the login problem many of you have the last few days. Next topic is the amount of users who are using the main IP (*.26) for IRC, or at least connect through that IP while using a different vhost. These users will get suspended until they understand how to use the other IP's instead. Repeated attempts will result in permanent suspension Logs show me that some users don't log out after they've done what they wanted to do on the shell, what's this about? I'm almost regretting adding these users on my server. Don't be lazy and type "exit"!! Last thing I don't want are idlers on the shell, they are using resources while a simple "exit" will stop me from whining about it all the time. I'm not happy with losing my uptime...

No updates for a long time, so here's something new for you to read. First of all I've seen a lot of sign up applications saying that there were no advertisements obviously that's wrong, there are in fact advertisements from google. You just need to unblock these advertisements with your adblocker. Second thing I'd like to point out is that most users state that they have read every single page and understood them. Even though I find users running multiple IRC clients while the rules stated one IRC client per user. New users who sign up should pay extra attention to all the information written on all the pages, obviously the home page is of importance as well. Last but not least, I put some banners up on the "Donate and Contributions" page for the users who are willing to help out. If you like to create banners, you're welcome to make one. Contact me and I'll put it on this site.

Lets make this one a short one... Do not give out any private information* regarding the server Odin, to anyone who asks. If users who have an account on Odin want to retrieve information forward them to this site, or tell them to read their signup approved email. If it's a new user, just forwarding him/her here will do.
* Private information: IP addresses, vhosts, port etc. Practically everything a non-Odin user doesn't know about.

Because of a user notice, I have chmodded every user's home directory. This is done to prevent other users to look into your account. We encourage our users to pay attention to the permissions of your files and directories. Files that contain clear passwords or sensitive information should definitely not be world readable! If you're not sure how to chmod(change permissions) your files/directories, google is your friend! If he's not and you can't work it out, contact us on IRC!

We would like to ask our users to watch closely for updates! This means that any page on this site can be updated without prior notice. You should especially pay attention to the Terms of Service.

We would like to ask users who have complete access to their domains to contact the admin if you want vhosts setup for the IP addresses. Remember they are public IP's, so when you donate a domain/subdomain, it's not going to be a private vhost for you to use alone.
